60th annual "Ralph Boyd Men's Open"

This past weekend the Campbell River Curling Club hosted it’s 60th annual “Ralph Boyd Men’s Open”!

 This events 60 years of history is something we are very proud of.

 To mark this special occasion we held a ceremonial first rock throw.

  During the weekend, we hosted 24 teams from all over Vancouver Island. The success of this spiel comes together with an amazing group of staff, volunteers and the financial support of local businesses.

 The A – Event sponsored by ABL Electric was won by the Brennan rink of the Comox Valley, Skip Dan with third Randy Baert, second Mike Meeres & lead Tim Corkery. This team won a prize package valued at $2400.00 which includes a day’s fishing charter for the team with Skip Scott Kratzmann of Riptide Fishing Charters.

 The B – Event sponsored by Hub Barton Insurance was won by the Brendan Neff rink of Nanaimo, Brendan a longtime supporter of this spiel was joined by third Keith Clark, second Darrell Knowles and lead Greg Norby

 The C – Event sponsored by No 1 Autobody was won by the Cody Hall rink of Victoria, Cody’s team standing out in there “retro’ curling sweaters was third Miles Craig, second Sterling Middleton and lead Ryan Cassidy

 The D – Event sponsored by Bill Howich Chrysler was won by the Cote rink of Campbell River, Skip Norm had third Chris Gomes, second J. Duzba and lead Darren Richards

 The most sportsmanlike team winning a fishing charter with Karl Bro of Sea J Charters was the Richard Tanguay Rink of the Comox Valley.

 The entire weekend was filled with amazing curling. Thank you to Gord & Michelle for such great ice conditions and also thank you to Jason & Chris from the Kaos Cafe for looking after the hungry crowds.

 The teams were treated with the hospitality we are known for, Friday night team seafood platters donated by Mowi Canada. Saturday night the teams enjoyed quite possibly the best meal ever served in our club, courtesy to club’s close friend “Uncle" Allan, friend Mario & assistant Elaine.

 Would like to thank Graeme and the Boyd Family for being such an integral part of the weekends celebration.
